Deed for Choctaw Indian lands sold by John Beard, Jr., to Simon S. Preston and John Ticknor : Mobile County, Ala., 1837 Feb 27.

Holograph manuscript deed written and signed by John Beard, Jr., of North Carolina, conveying land purchased by him from Choctaw Indians to Simon S. Preston and John Ticknor, of Mobile County, Alabama. The deed refers to a contract made by Beard with the Choctaws following the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek, by which he purchased part of the land claimed by the Indians under the treaty. The deed lists names of thirty-three Choctaws included in Beard's contract. The deed is accompanied by an autograph manuscript transcription, written in an unidentified hand.
